In the last 20 years, researchers have been working to develop a computer interface that could recognize speech and replace the keyboard. Through this research, it is becoming clearer how the brain processes sound.  Robert does a beautiful job of explaining how our ear/eye/brain system works. He helps us understand how our ear/brain system perceives speech and music, and then applies these principles to sound systems.
